Leaving Versailles, and On to Paris!

On our fourth day in Versailles, Eric and I hopped out of bed early, threw on workout clothes and sneakers, and walked into town to get cafes and a baguette for breakfast. It seemed like every person we passed had a baguette in their bag and a bouquet of fresh flowers in hand. An early morning with a cafe, fresh bread, fresh flowers, and a long walk is our kind of relaxing morning...we agreed that Versailles was a place we could definitely see ourselves buying a small vacation home in one day!

We took our time getting ready and then checked out of our hotel and took the train to Paris. Our hotel there, the Hilton Arc de Triomphe, which was entirely different than the Trianon Palace in Versaille, but equally as impressive. It was a skip and a hop away from the Arc de Triomphe, which you might have guessed by the name :) It became a nightly ritual to stroll down and look at it all lit up after dinner.

Shot of our room...See what I mean about the style being completely different?

We really had no agenda for the day that we got there because it was May Day, a huge holiday for the Parisians. Most of the museums were closed, except for the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, so we decided to roam around and acquaint ourselves with the city. Our first stop was Place de Concorde, because you can see all the famous sites of the city from that one spot.

We continued our stroll down the Tuileries Gardens toward the Louvre.

First glimpse of the Louvre!
We made our way over to the Eiffel Tower, just for a glimpse, and I went a little camera crazy! Per usual :)

It seemed like everywhere we went, the Eiffel Tower popped up, and every view was just as good as the next! It might be cheesy, but it is a beautiful tower, and an icon of Paris...I couldn't keep my fingers from snapping away photos :)

Our concierge recommended an excellent restaurant that was open late for dinner. It stayed light out so much later in France, and it would be 9 pm before we even realized it most nights!

Eric's delicious Floating Island for dessert. I don't think I ordered one dessert the whole trip, but I had many bites of his :)

Oh you know...just passing the Arch on our way home...

Headed back to our hotel at night.
